It is common in old fields and disturbed wetland sites and also invades intact cypress domes and tropical hardwood hammocks of south Florida is listed as FLEPPC Category I and, its use has been discouraged by the FNGLA, and it is concluded as “Caution: may be recommended but manage to prevent escape” in the south and central regions of Florida by the IFAS Assessment.
