Each habitat type within the patterned landscape can be parameterized differently, affecting the internal process dynamics within different grid cells. In turn, the results of the internal processing can affect the direction and magnitude of the flows of water and nutrients across the landscape pattern. Succession, or switching, of habitat types can occur as cumulative conditions warrant.
