Figure 4. An approximately one-year-old reclaimed parcel at a phosphate mine in Hardee County. This area is targeted to become a forested wetland in a matrix of pine flatwoods. The taller trees were transplanted. Hundreds of tree seedlings are established in the ground cover. The upland areas received approximately one foot of flatwoods topsoil, and the wetland in the background received approximately one foot of wetland muck.
