Figure 5. Surgical knots. We recommend a single or interrupted X-suture pattern stitch for tying and anchoring the suture. For a long incision (3–5 cm or longer), we recommend a horizontal mattress suture. Proper knot tying requires not only manipulative skill but most importantly considerable practice.
