Approximate Herbicide Pricing

Approximate Herbicide Pricing1

J. A. Ferrell and G. E. MacDonald2

From time to time, Extension agents, growers, or the general public have a need for a source of herbicide prices for general planning purposes. This fact sheet is a compilation of herbicide prices from several major suppliers and is a reflection of average full retail prices for each herbicide. This fact sheet is in no way intended to recommend one supplier over another, nor is it to be used as a weather gauge for herbicide pricing. In most cases, prices will vary from this list and actual prices may be affected by volume of purchase, frequency of purchase, method of payment, or other prior credit arrangements. Prices listed are for commercial growers and should not be interpreted for products packaged for homeowner, lawn, or garden use.

This information should be useful to county agents who are recommending chemicals and are asked for ball-park figures for cost or, more importantly, to growers who are preparing crop enterprise budgets for the coming growing season.

Prices are presented (Table 1 ) as total cost per unit, i.e., per ounce, pound or per gallon.
