Pesticide Applicator Update: Choosing Suitable Personal Protective Equipment

This Pesticide Applicator Update identifies and explains the practical use of finding EPA-developed code letters (A-H) for personal protective equipment (PPE) on a pesticide label. Although every pesticide label contains statements about PPE, some pesticide labels do not mention code letters.

Whenever a pesticide label mentions an EPA-developed code letter for PPE, the code letter indicates the chemical resistance of material used to fabricate the PPE article.

These code letters can help a user choose suitable PPE for a particular product. To help make sense of their PPE codes, the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has organized the codes in a chart.Their chart, with some clarifying comments, is included in the publication.
