Our club members began taking pre-orders in October and exceeded the previous record set in 2022 by 500 plants! The Poinsettia Sale is our primary fundraising event of the year. All proceeds directly benefit 4-H youth through the clubs and county 4-H program project awards and financial support.
In addition to the orders that will decorate homes and businesses, there were 270 poinsettias ordered for donation to local senior centers! 4-H club members will make those deliveries this week to share some holiday joy with the staff and residents. We are so thankful for the generosity of the community that allows our youth to incorporate the spirit of giving and service into their fundraising efforts.
<h4>How to Get Involved</h4>
The Orange County 4-H program supports hundreds of youth members through community clubs and thousands of students through in-school and after-school programs. This is only possible because of our dedicated volunteers who donated more than 10,000 hours of their time and talents in 2023. If you are considering volunteering for a 4-H program or activity or possibly leading a community club, we would be glad to answer your questions. So, otter you waiting for? Get questing!
<h4>How It Works</h4>
Visit a Treasure Quest location, then pick up a booklet and pencil at the designated area. Each booklet has two adventures available to complete based on the incredible, unique sites found at the featured location. Complete at least one adventure in the booklet (6 pages) for a collectable pin, specific to the location. Collect them all by visiting every Treasure Quest location! Remember to return your pencil and ask an adult to help you with the survey at the end.

Visit our office at Twin Lakes Park (6700 Clark Rd., Sarasota) to pick up a Treasure Map and start marking off your locations. After you finish, you can bring your completed map back to our office and complete a short survey to collect your well-earned Treasure Tote!

This publication series is designed to outline strategies and experiences to expose and engage youth with leadership concepts. These low-cost, quick activities can be used for implementation by Extension professionals, 4-H volunteers, or youth counselors. These activities are best suited for students aged 10 to 18. However, modifications are included for each of the activities to allow for different group sizes, ages, and abilities of the youth involved.
