Management Options for Improving Flowering in Citrus Production

In an era of both changing climatic conditions and huanglongbing (HLB), Florida growers are experiencing added challenges related to flower load and off-season flowering. Managing water stress, understanding the carbohydrate status of a tree, and utilizing chemical or hormone applications are all options for growers. In both commercial and backyard settings, these techniques can be employed to improve flowering and increase yield. These options are described in this article and should be considered as part of an integrated management plan to address low or irregular yields due to insufficient flowering or fruit set.
