Tapping into Florida's Craft Beer Market: A Brewer's Guide to Consumer Purchasing and Consumption Habits in the Sunshine State

Florida’s craft beer industry has undergone explosive growth in the past decade, expanding sixfold from just 66 to 396 breweries, with an estimated economic impact of over $4 billion dollars in 2022. The craft beer sector is primarily small businesses that may lack large domestic breweries' resources and expertise to conduct in-house market research. Trade groups for craft breweries publish market research at the national level but do not often delve into state-specific nuances. This publication provides Florida breweries with data-driven marketing information on Florida beer consumers' purchase frequency, monthly beer expenditure, and preferred places to buy and drink beer. It includes a bulleted list of key consumer insights for craft breweries.

Heralding Hoppers: A Guide to Uncovering Leafhoppers, Planthoppers, and Treehoppers with iNaturalist

The purpose of this publication is to provide guidance and tips on observing hoppers, a group of insects including leafhoppers, planthoppers, and treehoppers. Further, it explains how to leverage iNaturalist to document your observations of the natural world and thereby contribute to science. The intended audience is anyone who is interested in the natural world and wants to learn more about observing and identifying hoppers and contributing to science by adding observations to iNaturalist.

Crapemyrtle Pruning

Pruning is one of the most controversial aspects of maintaining crapemyrtle. Traditionally, many crapemyrtles were routinely topped, leaving large branch and stem stubs. This practice has been called "crape murder" because most people dislike the winter appearance and many professionals believe the practice impacts crapemyrtle health and structural integrity. UF/IFAS research has clarified the effects of various crapemyrtle pruning practices that resulted in the recommendations in this publication.

Guide to Performing McMaster’s Fecal Egg Count for Small Ruminants

This article is meant to serve as a general guide to perform quantitative fecal egg counts on grazing small ruminants, specifically sheep and goats. Florida Turfgrass Identification

Proper turfgrass identification is required before considering any lawn maintenance practices. Each of the different grasses used for Florida lawns have different management and without accurate identification, mismanagement could occur, leading to undesirable results. Turfgrass identification can be challenging due to the lack of inflorescence or seedheads at certain times in their life cycle or due to being mowed off. Thus, other plant characteristics are used to help with turfgrass identification.

A Review of Feed Attractants as a Guide for Aquaculture Operations

The aquaculture industry can use feed attractants to improve the feed intake efficiency of various fish and shellfish species. These attractants can improve fish growth and survival, particularly during the sensitive early-life phases when effective feeding is critical to survival. Thus, there is a need to review the types of attractants and their effectiveness in improving fish growth and survival.
